MARIC Targets To Capture At Least One Percent Of RM 160 Billion Of Rail Projects
The newly formed Malaysia Rail Industry Consortium or MARIC targets to capture at least one percent of the RM 160 billion of rail projects identified under the 11th Malaysia Plan by 2020. According to its President, Datuk Dr Mohd Yusoff Sulaiman, typically more than 70 percent of the amount invested in the rail systems segment has been given to overseas companies. Earlier was the launch of the industry-led consortium attended by 75 rail industry related companies. To date, there are 30 rail background companies registered under the consortium, with a joint turnover of RM 1 billion and 2,000 employees.

Through these discussions, we have gained valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. As we complete this symposium, it is critical that we do not simply rest on the knowledge we have gained but also act to turn ideas into actual results. Together we can create a rail transportation system that not only benefits our economies but also enhances the quality of life for our nation. Our journey to a sustainable railway is not ending here. Berjaya Rail joins MARIC, set to propel local rail sector
Berjaya Rail has joined the Malaysia Rail Industry Corporation network as part of its push to improve and develop the local rail industry, specifically the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore high-speed rail. Its parent Berjaya Land CEO Syed Ali Shahul Hameed says it is looking to work with stakeholders in the rail sector to create a robust ecosystem where local companies can thrive and compete globally. Berjaya Rail has actively engaged in the KL-SG HSR's Request for Information and teamed up with IJM Corp, MRCB, and KTMB for its proposal. It is supported by tech partners like Hitachi Rail, Hyundai Rotem, and DB Engineering & Consulting. The 46-odd member Malaysia Rail Industry Corporation was set up in 2017 to contribute to developing Malaysian railway systems engineering. RTX 2022 Day 2 Highlight
Kementerian Pengangkutan Malaysia (MOT) dengan kerjasama Malaysia Rail Development Corporation (MRDC) dan Malaysia Rail Industry Corporation (MARIC) telah menganjurkan satu pameran untuk meraikan agensi pengendali rel, pemain industri rel tempatan dan akademia iaitu Rail Technology Expo (RTX) 2022 pada 11-14 Ogos 2022 di KL Sentral, Kuala Lumpur. Program ini telah dirasmikan oleh YB Datuk Seri Ir. Dr. Wee Ka Siong, Menteri Pengangkutan Malaysia. The RTX 2022 will be officiated by YB Datuk Seri Ir. Dr. Wee Ka Siong, Minister of Transport. It highlights on technology and local businesses through special programmes comprising knowledge sharing and showcases. This program strives to support industrial development and promotes the competitiveness of an integrated, affordable, reliable and smooth public transport for the benefits of the nation.

The Malaysia Rail Industry Corporation (MARIC) is established to provide empowerment for Malaysian rail industry players and to fast track the development of local rail industry. The Protem Committee was appointed to perform the function of MARIC committee before the appointment of a permanent committee. Successful session of meetings have finally centered all effort into the formation of one organization that can unite all rail companies under one vision and similar mission. In August 2016, a few selected companies that represented several prominent sectors in rail were called to shared their overviews about rail industry. In September, the formation of protem committee was established to carry the task of conveying the MARIC messages to the stake holders, industry players and the public.
